Focusing on What Matters
Mid-2025 and already this year is really tryin’ me.
I can’t say it’s taken me out because then I’ll really lose, but I will say that right now, a lot of things are happening and all I can do is prepare, make a check-list, follow it, don’t be shy about asking for help, and taking it one step at a time.
Trust, I’ll tell you all about it once I feel safe, but for now, let’s focus on my creative pursuits!
I guess I can say this is a mid-way progress report of my expectations for the year because while I have learned a lot, accomplished some things, am totally behind in others (shocker), I had a bit of a revelation.
I’ve decided to solely focus on producing episodes for The Barringer Hotel and making videos for my YouTube channel.
With the 2025 Webtoon’s Legend Contest over, at least for me (trust I’ll make a separate blog/video for it), I found myself really seeing the vision for The Barringer Hotel.
What started as a fun, unusual historical horror story based on the infamous Murder Castle with a starring Latina immigrant as the main character, Barringer really blossomed before my very eyes. It’s more than a horror story to me, its personal and a story I think can teach us that survival isn’t the be all end all, family is important but never at the cost of losing yourself, and that silence in the face of injustice is potentially far more evil than the act itself.
Felipa is someone I can see being herself yet also serving as a lesson for others. Don’t know what I’m talking about? That’s okay, read The Barringer Hotel and you’ll see soon enough.
Add to the fact that I have to make this comic beautiful, not Kaoru Mori’s Emma: A Victorian Romance levels of masterpiece beautiful (seriously how does that woman do it??), but something I still want to make a visual impact. You have no idea how much I was beating myself up metaphorically over how to illustrate this comic and even now, I’m not 100% sold. But alas, perfectionism is my weakness and sometimes to make progress you just gotta let the kite go.

Do you see what I mean?? The art?? The background?? The detail? The historical accuracy from just one panel? Girl, teach me your ways 😭
And I did it to the point I even hired someone! Luna Moon Drops, this beautiful and helpful sparkling individual, has helped me do the character coloring for Episode 4 and I gotta say she really taught me new tricks that added some “oomph” to my art. It felt so incredibly nice to have an extra pair of hands and the minute I can make that a consistent thing for backgrounds and even lineart, it’s over for these bitches.
Check out Luna’s art on Instagram and her webcomic as well, it’s super beautiful and definitley could use some eyes.

Now onto my YouTube.
So along with Barringer, I’ve decided to really focus and go all in on my channel. I’ve always considered it this side hobby that has gotten surprisingly good traction and views every once in a while, specifically for my controversial commentary. As a result, and because I’m planning to build a little empire for myself, I decided to really invest, focus and execute something special with DayDayDoes.
It’s okay if you have no idea what I mean.
I just mean that I feel like I can really use my channel to do some good for the greater good!
Like, to challenge the status quo of storytelling by using fandom discourse to empower underrepresented voices. Promote media literacy for sure and hopefully even encourage critical thinking, all while keeping it fun, honest, and easy to digest. Inspiring even if we have the time.
So if I can publish 3 videos monthly as a minimum, that would be lovely. Ideally, I’d like 6-9, but we’ll see what I can do. I’m going to have A LOT of free time pretty soon so I’m making that the goal.
So yeah, Barringer and YouTube.
Dante’s Ama is going on a small hiatus, as is Bittersweet Nightshade. When I’ve found sufficient help with the first two projects, I’ll focus on the others.
Because at the end of the day, the last thing I want is to burnout and considering I’m pivoting to be a full-time content creator, I have to learn how to prioritize what’s on my plate. I already have real life responsibilities that will take some of my immediate attention so anything I can do to help myself would be great.
Okay, enough rambling.
Until next time, cheers!
